Persian Department

The Persian Department is the first and oldest department of faculty of Literature and Humanities of University of Kashan. This department was established in 1988 and began admitting students in Teaching Persian Language and Literature. The department’s success in educating students made the admission of them in the field of Persian Language and Literature possible. Professors’ capabilities, the brilliance of students and graduates, and the academic facilities such as a relatively rich library with 200,000 books and computer facilities, has gave the department the opportunity to admit graduate and postgraduate students alongside undergraduates since 2001.

The admission of these students escalated the research activities of the department. By producing valuable dissertations, books, and scientific and educational papers, professors and students were able to promote themselves and the university. The establishment and publication of two scientific and specialized journals (Mystical Studies and Kashan Studies) with the efforts of colleagues of the department and faculty, provided the background for attracting a great deal of attention of researchers, scholars, and consequently, the authorities to the department.

After the promotion of professors of the department and eight-time graduations of MA students, the department take the authority in admission of PhD students in 2011 under the supervision of the experienced and expert professors of this educational group.

The establishment of Girls Unit of University of Kashan was another step in the development of university and following that, the department of Persian Language and Literature. This educational group was able to offer courses in Persian for MA and BA students and eventually in PhD on this center.

Currently, with 8 fulltime faculty members and 10 visiting professors, this department has provided experts for both especial courses of Persian Language and Literature field (for the central faculty and the Girls’ Unit) and the general Persian courses for other students of various departments of University of Kashan.

Presently, more than 25 groups of undergraduates, 15 groups of graduates, and 1 group of postgraduate students has graduated from this department.

It is worth mentioning that a number of the scholars and professors of this department has achieved several national awards for their academic activities.

As the admission of students in Persian Language and Literature became trend-based, the department decided to admit MA students in “Narrative Literature” and “Editorial” and PhD students in “Mystical Literature” and “Epic Literature”.

The membership of professors of this department in reputable scientific and research associations of the country and their collaboration with specialized journals and national media have always been among the honors of the department of Persian Language and Literature of University of Kashan.
